Biography

Cheetah Haysom

 Born a fifth-generation South African. Graduated from the University of Natal. News reporter at the Cape Times, Cape Town, then the Daily News, Durban.  In 1975  posted by South Africa’s largest newspaper group to be a correspondent in their New York Bureau. Wrote about all aspects of American life.

 In 1987 formed freelance organization, News Writers International, writing for overseas magazines and newspapers. Covered films, finance and foreign policy. Wrote about human rights struggles, celebrities and life in New York City. Edited a business newspaper for European executives, and a community newsletter in Pine Island, the farming region near Warwick,  New York, where she now lives with her family.

 

Cheetah is a published short story writer, and is currently writing a novel.  She became an American citizen in 2001.

 

Cheetah is the President of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce
